Protect Your Home with Service Assured® Repair Coverage

Did you know that as a Rochester homeowner, you own your water service and possibly your electric service? Unfortunately, aging pipes, invasive tree roots, seasonal changes, freezing, improper installation, corrosion, and valve failure can lead to costly repairs. You can’t prevent it. You can’t predict it. Worst of all, most homeowner insurance policies do not cover these repairs. But with Service Assured®, you’re covered!

What is Service Assured®?

Service Assured® provides coverage for unexpected water or underground electric service repairs. There are two branches of the program:

Both programs offer peace of mind by covering costly repairs that standard homeowner insurance policies often exclude.

Opting Out of Coverage

If you do not want to participate in Service Assured® Water or Electric, you may opt out. However, without coverage, you will be responsible for all repair costs, which can be significant:

  • Angle Stops repairs: Hundreds of dollars
  • Service Line repairs/replacement: $5,000 to $10,000 or more

If you opt out, you cannot re-enroll for 12 months from your opt-out date. Re-enrollment requires a pre-approval inspection by RPU. If pre-existing conditions (e.g., leaks, improper installation) are found, you must repair them at your own cost before becoming eligible.

Eligibility

Service Assured® is available to RPU customers living in:

  • Single-family homes
  • Single-owner duplexes
  • Some townhome associations
  • Individual twin homes and triplexes (where each unit has its own water service line or underground electric service installed after January 1, 1981)

Exclusions

The program does not cover:

  • Mobile homes, apartments, or condominiums
  • Atypical service configurations
  • Individual townhomes (due to common property ownership by associations)
  • Pre-existing conditions (must be repaired before eligibility)
