Curious about where your drinking water comes from? In celebration of Drinking Water Week (May 4–10, 2025), Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) is opening the doors to its water system with a special Open House event on Friday, May 9, from 2:00–6:00 p.m.

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look inside the Apache Mall water tower and wellhouse to learn how water travels from deep underground aquifers to your tap. You’ll get to explore a spheroid water storage tower that can hold up to 500,000 gallons of water and learn how it compares to other facilities in our system, like the St. Mary’s Reservoir, which stores a massive 3.3 million gallons.

What you’ll experience:

  • A rare look inside the wellhouse and water tower

  • Insights into how we deliver clean, safe drinking water to more than 42,000 Rochester customers

  • A chance to ask questions and learn directly from the experts who work around the clock to keep our water flowing

This is a fun and educational event for all ages, whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for another look. It’s also a great way to celebrate the dedicated professionals behind Rochester’s reliable drinking water.

We look forward to seeing you there!
