Service AssuredSM Underground Utility Repair Coverage
For only $1.99 per month, you can have piece of mind that you won't be hit with costly repair bills if your underground electric service breaks! For $2.99 per month, you'll be covered for both your electric and water services.
Damage can occur to the cable during or after installation due to gophers, frost heaving, and power surges. Most homeowner's insurance policies do not cover the cost of repairing this equipment. (Please check with your agent.) Repairs can be costly - unless of course, you are a Service AssuredSM customer!
Service AssuredSM is available to RPU residential customers living in single-family homes or single-owner duplexes. We are now offering Service AssuredSM to some townhome associations, individual twinhomes, and triplexes where each unit has its own service line. (Excludes mobile homes, apartments, and condominiums. Service AssuredSM may not be applicable to all single-family home and single owner duplexes. In rare instances of atypical configurations, coverage is not available.)
If you are a residential customer living in a single-family home or single-owner duplex, then you own your underground electric service if it was installed or updated after January 1, 1981. Underground electric service installed before 1981 may be owned by RPU and is consequently our responsibility to repair.
If your underground electric service does break down, call us at (507) 280-1500. We will come to your home, inspect the damage, and depending on the extent of the damage, either repair the damage ourselves or hire a licensed contractor. Either way, if you have Service AssuredSM, you will not bear any cost except restoration work inside your property line.
For a low monthly fee of $1.99, you can enjoy convenience, affordability, and peace of mind knowing that your service will be restored at no charge to you if it does break down.
