The Emission Reduction Project (ERP) at the Silver Lake Plant is a $37 million state-of-the-art project that will greatly reduce the amount of nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, mercury and particulate matter.

Projected reduction amounts-

Sulfur Dioxide- up to 85%
Nitrogen Oxides- up to 60%
Mercury- up to 80% to 90%
Particulate Matter- a significant reduction

The ERP involves improving the 55-megawatt Unit 4 generator by adding a scrubber and baghouse system for treating flue gas emissions.

• a fabric filter baghouse
• a fly ash system for greater fugitive emission control
• a dry scrubber that generates a chemical reaction to reduce the sulfur dioxide to a non-intrusive calcium sulfate

The ERP is scheduled to be completed by late 2009.
